Hiroshi Yamazaki
Born 1946, Nagano, Japan
Resides in Tokyo, Japan

Yamazaki began to photograph the sea seriously in the early seventies, for a while making it his sole subject. Seascapes account for half of his photography, particularly images that explore the relationship between the sea and the sun. Often working in time-based series, Yamazaki extends that approach to filmmaking and now videography. Two monographs of his sea pictures have been published in Japan: Heliography (1983) and Horizon (1989).
