Between Past and Future: The exhibition is accompanied by a fully-illustrated 232-page catalogue published by the Smart Museum of Art/ICP/Steidl. It contains essays by Wu Hung and Christopher Phillips; interviews with many of the artists by Melissa Chiu of the Asia Society, Lisa Corrin of the Seattle Museum of Art, and Staci Boris of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; artists’ biographies and a full bibliography. Since many of the works in the exhibition will be introduced to an American public for the first time, the catalogue serves as a scholarly reference that will benefit art historians and students of contemporary Asian culture as well as a broad general-interest audience. |
