Education programs, many scheduled during lunch and after-work-hours for the convenience of those people who work in the area, will cover a wide range of topics. Activities include lectures and walking tours, as well as workshops and courses (offered on weekends as well as during the week) such as, Basic Camera Handling, Color Photography Without a Darkroom, Using Your Camera and VCR, and Using Your Electronic Flash. A special screening area for audio-visual presentations will complement the exhibitions and feature innovative video tapes and films by contemporary video-makers.
The International Center of Photography's Director, Cornell Capa remarks, "ICP has, since its inception in 1974, aimed to reach a national and international audience. Our circulating exhibitions and our educational formats are received and utilized in institutions around the globe. With ICP/MIDTOWN, we have the opportunity to reach out to the very heart of Manhattan. We intend to introduce photography there in a way that will complement a lunch hour, and yet also serve as an invitation to still deeper exploration of the photographic medium. The International Center of Photography wishes to thank International Paper Company and International Paper Company Foundation for making this possible."
In addition to its exhibitions and educational programs, ICP/MIDTOWN will feature a unique bookstore. It will offer the most comprehensive selection of photography books in the midtown area, and will also carry periodicals, postcards, posters and photo albums.
ICP provides a broad range of programs. More in-depth information can be found under the official ICP Website. This site has a section on David Seymour.
